“Only if you dare to do something new, to cross borders, you can experience new knowledge”. This is the driving energy of Matteo Thun’s work. The Milan-based architect and designer was born and raised in the bilingual German and Italian speaking region of South Tyrol, Italy. Following his studies with Oskar Kokoschka and Emilio Vedova at the Salzburg Academy he graduated cum laude with a degree in Architecture from the University in Florence. He co-founded the ‘Memphis’ group in Milan in 1981 with Ettore Sottsass and opened his own studio in Milan in 1984.
Designer Antonio Rodriguez was born in 1963 and grew up in Spain. After studies in Valencia and Milan, he moved to Milan in the 1990s, working at the Taipei Design Center and acting as a tutor at the European Design Institute (IED) from 2000 to 2005. Antonio Rodriguez has been a partner of Matteo Thun since 2003. His timeless and clear designs have shaped iconic products and interior projects for a worldwide clientele.
Matteo Thun Milano, founded in 1984, is a company operating internationally in the hospitality, healthcare, residential, offices and retail sectors and product design. Based in Milan, Italy,the studio’s designs are inspired by timeless simplicity and centred on the human scale.
Matteo Thun Milano’s architecture and interior design is the result of an ongoing dialogue between the clients, the location, its residents and its culture.
