Matteo Cibic| Italy

Italian designer and master in luxury fun, Matteo Cibic is often defined as a trans-media artist and this is because he easily switches from one media to another.

Matteo Cibic was born in Parma, Italy, in 1983. After graduating, he moved to his uncle’s home in Milan and enrolled in Politecnico of Milano, where he got an Industrial Design degree while working full time at Cibic&Partners, with his well-known uncle, Aldo Cibic.

In Milan he began to collaborate with other young artists and in 2006 he founded his own creative company ‘Matteo Cibic Studio’ based in Milan and Vicenza. Since then he works with his team of designers to develop pieces and creative ideas not only for private collectors, but international companies as well.

Their objects have been included in several temporary and permanent exhibitions worldwide at institutions such as the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Shanghai Glass Museum while he has been the creative mind behind the development of products for international brands such as Beck’s, Benetton Group (Fabrica) and Nespresso.

“For me, the term design changes its meaning every morning, every day. It is a way to express myself, to have fun, to eat and also a way to create objects of wonder. It is a tool to satisfy my extreme curiosity”.

And he says more “What interests me is to create a storytelling capable of establishing a strong link between the project and its user […]I want my messages to succeed and last over time in people’s minds”.

Famous for his objects with hybrid functions and anthropomorphic and joyful shapes, Matteo is an international award winning designer, and his work is published internationally.

He has been awarded International Young Talent of the Year 2017 by Elle Decor.
